U.K. director Peter Hammond dies

Peter Hammond, who started being an actor in British films throughout the nineteen forties but eventually grew to become a director of these Brit TV fare as "The Avengers," the "A Virtual DetectiveInch series with Jeremy Brett and "Inspector Morse," died March. 12 working in london. He was 87. Hammond made his bigscreen debut within an uncredited role in 1945's "Waterloo Road." He'd a supporting role in Ken Annakin's 1947 comedy "Holiday Camping" after which made an appearance in Annakin's Huggetts trilogy of dramedy films. Hammond were built with a fairly large role in 1949's "Helter Skelter" and war drama "Operation Disaster" (1950) and was second charged behind Jack Hawkins in "Fortune in Diamonds." Younger crowd were built with a prominent role in 1955 crime drama "The Most harmful Sin." Through the mid-'50s he started showing up on British television, recurring on "The Buccaneers," "William Tell," "Something within the City" and "The field of Tim Frazer." Hammond started act as a TV director in early sixties, particularly helming 18 instances of classic spy show "The Avengers" and adding to the introduction of its signature look. Other projects throughout the sixties incorporated instances of the series "Contract to Kill," "The almighty Raingo" and "The 3 Musketeers." For his focus on "Ambrose," a 1965 segment of "Armchair Mystery Theatre" starring Jesse Pleasence, among other efforts, Hammond received the 1965 Guild of Television Producers and Company directors Award (which later grew to become the BAFTAs). He earned his feature helming debut in 1970 with "Spring and Port Wine," starring James Mason. Within the seventies he directed instances of "Our Mutual Friend," "Kilvert's Diary," "Rumpole from the Bailey" and also the 1978 BBC miniseries "Wuthering Levels." Operate in the eighties incorporated the series "The Small Realm of Don Camillo" "Tales from the Unpredicted" and "Uncle Silas," starring Peter O'Toole.
